Återgå till en tidigare programversion från Legacy version 8
When you download and install the new version of Legacy, this upgrade program version does not overwrite any previous Standard or Deluxe version of the program you might already have installed on your computer. The Legacy 8 upgrade will install into its own separate folder, just as previous upgrade versions have done.
Legacy 8 will, however, request to convert your existing family files to a new format when you click to open them for use in version 8. This is because of the many new features in the new version. After a family file has been converted, it can no longer be opened by a previous version.
When you open a family file created in a previous version of Legacy, you are given three choices:
- Copy my family file to the My Documents folder, convert it to the new format, and open it.
- Make a backup of my family file before converting it and then open it where it is.
- Just convert my family file and open it.
It is recommended that you choose the first option. This leaves the original family file unconverted in its original location as a backup.
Ett tänkbart scenario:
Här är alternativen
A. If you chose the first option to make a copy of your Family file in the My Documents folder and then convert it, all you have to do is start version 7 of Legacy and open the original file.
B. If you chose the second option to make a backup your family file before converting it:
1. Open your previous edition of Legacy.
2. Choose File > Restore Family File. This opens a list of your backup .zip file that can be restored. By its name, date and time, locate the latest backup file you made before converting your family file.
3. Highlight the file by clicking on it and then click Open at bottom-right of the window
4. In the next dialog box enter a new name for your soon-to-be restored file.
5. Click Save.
6. A window now pops up to ask if you would like to open your Restored family file. Click Yes.
C. If you chose the third option and just converted the family file without making any backup:
1. Run version 8 of Legacy and open the family file that was converted to the new format.
2. Export a GEDCOM file (File > Export to... GEDCOM file).
On the Options tab:
Make sure you select Legacy for the Produce file for option.
Uncheck the Suppress <Estimated Dates> and <Places> option.
Check the Keep embedded formatting codes within text option.
Uncheck the Convert formatting codes to HTML style option.
Check the Override Source options - include all source information option.
On the Privacy tab:
Make sure all the checkboxes are UNCHECKED in the Suppression of Living Individuals section
Make sure all the checkboxes are CHECKED in the Override Private Settings section. This will make sure that all the information is exported to the GEDCOM file.
Click the Select File Name and START EXPORT button.
Select the file name for the GEDCOM file and the folder you want to save it in and then click the Save button. The GEDCOM file will be exported.
